RELATED EXPERIENCE
I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and lived in Madrid, Spain and Munich, Germany. These opportunities enriched my passion for architectural and residential design. In 2010 I traveled to Tuscany with an eye on Tuscan and Italian provencial design. That same year, I spent a month in Panama, Central America observing colonial spanish, modern and regional Caribbean design and art.
A working knowledge of period textiles began when I owned "OUT OF THE PAST" a vintage and antiquities shop in Five-Points, Columbia, SC. (1981-84). I traveled north as far as Boston and south to Ft. Lauderdale purchasing from vintage dealers, attending antique shows, flea markets, and being called upon to appraise or buy vintage clothing from private estates. I produced numerous “history of fashion” shows, one of which aired on WIS –TV in Columbia, SC. The State Newspaper and other regional newspapers published numerous feature articles about vintage clothing and my expertise in this field. I furnished period clothing (1940's) for costume director of the 1983 movie staring Charleston Heston and Keith Carradine, entitled "Chiefs" filmed in Chester and Columbia, SC. In 2010 I was chosen to design the downstairs bedroom of the Historic Hobcaw House, Georgetown County, SC listed on the National Register of Historic Places which required (1930's era) fabric research, period design application and implementation (see details on Hobcaw page).
