In Vedantic philosophy, prana is the notion of a vital life-sustaining force and vital energy of living beings and so are the businesses and entrepreneurs for the economy.

For developing economies like India entrepreneurship provides a boost to the economic growth by creating new businesses, new jobs and at some points by bringing in a technology change.  Entrepreneurship can be considered as a lifeline of any growing economy. To encourage the budding entrepreneurs, FTM CEPT has been organizing PRANA, a national level annual event. The flagship event of PRANA is a business plan (B-plan) competition.

FTM- CEPT has initiated Prana in the year 2009. PRANA’09 was held to encourage entrepreneurial spirit in   Energy management and Rural Development.

PRANA'12 for its B-plan event has come up with the theme – Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Sustainable Development”. Sustainable development focuses on improving the quality of life without increasing the use of natural resources beyond the capacity of the environment to supply them indefinitely. Amidst a serious resource crunch for survival sustainable development is the key to all problems.

The B plan competition will be held in collaboration with the Center for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE, IIMA). Through PRANA'12 an effort is made to encourage young entrepreneurs to come up with various theme based business plans. The various sub themes under sustainable development are - water technology, waste management, energy management, low carbon technologies, transportation technologies, and sustainable cities and villages. The aim and objective of the B-plans would be to chase the current challenges in the above mentioned sectors.
