The Family and Couples Therapy Center offers psychotherapeutic professional services for individuals, families, couples, children, and adolescents. The therapeutic focus falls under the systemic family model with an emphasis on the Psychodynamic processes.
Human beings are exposed to a great diversity of experiences and circumstances in their lives from the moment of birth that begin to shape, and sometimes distort, the perception of the world in which we live. These are moments when therapy can help dealing with the consequences and pain provoked by those experiences. As social beings humans need contact and cohabitation with other persons. Cohabitation and human interdependence with other members of the family or a partner provides security, affection as well as material and emotional support. But at the same time, this closeness may cause conflicts, relational and behavioral problems for one or more members in the family system. This especially happens during times of transition in the different stages of life. In situations like these family and couples therapy help by offering support, understanding and alternatives to the situations causing suffering and distress. The therapeutic services are not only helpful for severe mental or behavioral problems. They also offer motivation and support for the individual processes of personal growth. The resources and knowledge acquired during the therapeutic process are strategies that will be of great use in the future for those who participate in them. |
