How does Solar PV work?

Solar PV panels generate electricity from daylight - even on overcast or dull days. This electricity is then transferred into the property to power appliances and provide lighting.  If panels produce more than you need, the extra is sold to the local electricity network.

How much does it cost?

The price of systems vary according to various factors but the average cost is £4000  for a 1 kW system and around £10,500 for a 4kW system.

Is my roof or chosen site suitable?

A south-facing site is the best location for panels to receive maximum amounts of daylight. Our free survey will assess the suitability of your chosen site.

Do I need planning permission?

In most cases you don't require planning permission. You will require planning permission if your PV panels are more than 200mm from the top of the roof tile.

What is the Feed-In Tariff?

The Feed-in Tariff, introduced in April 2010, will pay a premium on every unit of electricity generated by pv panels with an additional bonus for every unit of electricity exported back to the National Grid. The Tariff will be administered by Ofgem and electricity suppliers will be responsible for paying the reward to customers.
