The New York State Division of the Izaak Walton League is one of the eight members of the League's Great Lakes Committee. which has IWL representatives from each of the states surrounding the Great Lakes.  The Committee's primary concern has been upgrading the nation's ballast water legislation, badly needed to reduce the continued entry of foreign invasives such as the zebra mussels into the Great Lakes.  Les Monostory serves as the New York State Division representative to the Great Lakes Committee.

The Central New York Chapter has been actively involved in the Hydraulic Fracturing Issue.  The Chapter members were instrumental in putting together the 2 attached documents - Policy Recommendations and the Fact Sheet.
