Two 1 unit courses offered

Anth36.01 --  Exposure to professional anthropology in the South Bay
10 hours of shadowing a selection of 3-5 professional anthropologists for two or more hours.

Anthropologists taking part
1. Lisa Robinson -  Collections Manager, Los Altos Museum
            designed to show how a collections at a small museum are organized and how the history of a town is discovered in archives
2. Linda Hylkema - Director of the Anthropology Laboratory, Santa Clara University
            designed to show how the director of a large laboratory does her job and coordinates anthropology being conducted on a large university campus
3. Lorna Pierce - Forensic Anthropologist,
Consultant in Forensic Anthropology to the Santa Clara Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office and                 Prof at San Jose State University and Santa Clara University
        designed to show how forensic anthropologists do their job
4. John Wolf - Medical Anthropology at Stanford University Hospital [NOT AVAILABLE YET]
        designed to show how medical ethics and anthropology mesh
5. Roger Kelly - Foothill Anthropology Laboratory, NAGPRA and CRM law
        designed to show how NAGPRA works here on campus
6. Mark Hylkema - CA State Parks Archaeologist, Santa Cruz County.
        designed to show how anthropological archaeologists work for the state
7. Katherine Schaefers - Rosicrucian Museum
        designed to show how the museum works from the education and outreach perspective: SEE SPECIAL VOLUNTEER SHEETS
8. Karen Oeh - Career Center Director, Foothill College
        designed to show the social service side of anthropology
9. Samantha Swan -
Environmental Planner at the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA)
            designed to show the job of someone environmentally clears transportation projects (using both NEPA and CEQA) 
10. Samuel Connell - Professor of Anthropology, Foothill College.  
            designed to show student what a professor does during a regular work day

First Class Meeting was September 25th at 12 noon in Anthropology Laboratory.  Introductions and Organization. If you missed this please contact Sam Connell 650-949-7197. Following this there will be no permanent class meeting until the last day of class  Dec 4th at 12 noon. 

Anth 36.02

Directed internship with a single anthropologist.  Choices can be made following exposure to the various fields via Anth36.01. 
Available internships at:
A.   Rosicrucians Museum (with K. Schaefers permission)
B.   Los Altos Museum (with L. Robinson permission), and
C.   Foothill Anthropology Laboratory (with S. Connell permission)
