Armor:
I had a bag made a few years ago to carry my old vest panels after thinking about being stuck in your car or while doing officer rescues. It might buy me a few seconds to get off the X by throwing it up over the window or tossing it to another officer.
Texas Cruiser after taking AK47 rounds. The officer was out of the car but it shows
where the bad guy was aiming. Read about it here: LINK
Breaching:
I came across this idea in this thread on Lightfighter.net (Active shoot loadouts??) I already carry a axe and crowbar in my trunk and I thought this was a cool tool to try out. Its a Stanley Fat Max Xtreme which is pretty cheap at Lowes. I chopped the lower "claw" off with a 4" cutting disk and threw some paint over it.
While not really homemade, I did paint this mini axe from Lowes with Aluma-hyde II paint from Brownell's.
Mini LED light:
I needed a small light for working surveillance at night while in a vehicle. I had some red LED's from another project and got some 9 volt caps at Radio Shack. I hot glued the LED to the cap, soldered the connections, used some heat shrink, and then hot glued it all together. Some "rubber" spray paint from Lowes and it was ready to go. It ain't pretty but it works and it was CHEAP.
![]() I made one of these for my house and one for our guys to use at the range. The plans are in Kyle Lambs book; Green Eyes & Black Rifles:The Warriors Guide to the Combat Carbine. You can check out the photos and video below. My son helped make the barricades and they are pretty simple to cut out. We made two panels and one set of legs for now. I might cut down the legs after looking at the new VTAC videos and seeing the legs shortened down. It also looks like you could flip the barricade right to left.
