Welcome to Celano Chinooks:
Sherri and I (Donnie) are proud owners of BigSky Saghalie Belle. The name "Celano" has no ties with the Chinook breed. I wrote my doctoral disseration on Saint Francis of Assisi, and his first biographer was Thomas of Celano. Although Celano does not tie to the Chinook breed, he is one of my heroes. I hope you will find all the information you will need about the Chinook breed and Belle, our pride and joy.

Breed History and Our Family History:
For a good history of the Chinook breed, please check out the following link: http://www.chinook.org/history.htm. I am sure you will find the breed just as enjoyable as you imagine. They do not bark, are great with kids and are faithful companions. Our family is young and growing. Sherri and I have been married since 1991 and have 2 kids, Leah (11) and Jonah (4). Let me tell you, Belle has her work cut out for her with Jonah. He plays with her, puts his hands in her food dish, and lavishes her with love. Belle simply licks, licks, licks! We cannot imagine life without her.
Sherri is a hospital supervisor (Upland Hills Medical Center) in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, an RN with a BSN in nursing, and almost finished with her Masters in Nurse Practitioning which she is receiving online from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. I teach history and religion at Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, Iowa where I hold the Chair of the General Studies Department. My doctorate is in Historical Theology with an emphasis on the Middle Ages (Francis of Assisi).
Information about Belle (Dam), Loki (Sire) and Their Litter:
'PR' Bigsky Saghalie Belle was born on 12/15/2003 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Yes, I flew from St. Louis, Missouri to get Belle - a trip highly anticipated by my family. Cheryl Colligan did a fantastic job with the litter and making the new owners feel welcome. Belle's parents are Champion GRCH 'PK' AspenCreek's Jackson Tyee and CH'PR' Saghalie Midnight Kaia. She is registered with the United Kennel Club (UKC) and The American Kennel Club (AKC). She is a silver/fawn color and has CERF "normal" and OFA "fair." Regarding her personality, well, Belle LOVES attention and treats (you can get her to do anything for a treat). She prances around our acreage lot like a princess surveying her kingdom. She is regal, and we love that about her.
Channahon's Northern Loki was born 5/10/2003. The following information was supplied by his owner: OFA Fair, CERF Breeder's Option in 2009 - F2A - degeneration-syneresis; (Normal in 04, 05) Degeneration -syneresis does not affect his vision, nor need treatment; likely age related; OFA Cardiac Normal, OFA: Search Results (OFA and CERF #'s Here), DNA-VIP, AKC FSS & UKC Registered, Sire: CH Channahon's Northern Kodiak (OFA Good, CERF Normal 03,04,05, Breeder's Option 09 for Degeneration-syneresis, DNA, Dam: CH Mountain Laurel Jade (GDC Excellent, OFA Cardiac Normal, CERF Normal (01,04,05,06,08), DNA Belle delivered on June 26, 2009. The litter size is 7 - 4 males and 3 females. The litter is fine and all look to be tawny in color (preferred for the breed). All are nursing well.
