CDO gets a face-lift

The start of a new school year means changes. Between new classes, new friends, and new pencils, you can be sure to expect something different when you walk into your classes on that first day of school. August 2012 will have all those changes in store, and more. Along with your wardrobe during that time of year, CDO will also be updated and renovated.

Expected changes for next year span from new cafeteria food to a new cafeteria itself.  The western wall where the college banners hang, and where the vending machines stand on the exterior, will be torn down and replaced with one huge retractable glass window for those beautiful Tucson afternoons. At the eastern part of the building, the teacher lounge will be renovated into a cyber lounge for students. The lounge will include computers, Wi-Fi, and a flat screen TV for students to catch the score of their favorite team’s game or just to kick back.

The MPR construction began in April of this year, and is expected to be completely done around January of 2013. For the duration of this project, food will be served in the teacher’s lounge.

Accompanying the new construction changes in the lunchroom is new food. STUGO had a taste- testing where they represented the student body and decided what food will be served next year.  Some big hits were the ever- so- healthy turkey burger, shredded beef sandwich, sushi and wings.

The MPR isn’t the only building expecting major changes. The administration building is in for a face- lift as well. While the exterior of the building will be the same, the infrastructure will be completely different. The biggest difference will be a different floor layout, meaning administrators will be placed in different areas, with different room layouts as well.

It will be exciting to see the CDO campus blossom from good to great. When you return next year, you won’t even recognize the place!
