Our Mission
The Committee is dedicated to promoting "Duty to
God" at each level of Boy Scouting, Girl Scouting, American Heritage Girls
and Camp Fire USA. We are affiliated with the National Catholic Committee on
Scouting (NCCS) – a religious advisory group to the Boy Scouts of America, and the
National Catholic Committee on Girl Scouts USA and Camp Fire USA (NCCGSCF) - which
is associated with the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM),
and guided by the Diocese of Colorado Springs Office of Youth Ministry.
Our Vision
To enable every Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Brownie, Girl Scout,
American Heritage Girl and Camp Fire Girl (regardless of religious affiliation) to learn and know about their faith’s religious
programs and consider participating in such programs, and further to see such
programs and activities organized and conducted to enable such participation by
every Scouting organization and Catholic Scout in the Diocese of Colorado Springs.
Who We Are
The Catholic Committee on Scouting is a volunteer organization of concerned lay people and religious of the Catholic Diocese of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Membership is open to all who desire to serve the youth of the Diocese involved with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls and Camp Fire USA. We serve the Bishop by advising him on matters of Catholic Scouting and supports the efforts of the Diocesan Office of Youth Ministry.
The Committee organizes, promotes and administers the diocesan Catholic Scouting Religious Emblems program for boys and girls as promulgated by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (boys) and the National Catholic Committee for Girl Scouts and Camp Fire (girls). The Committee also supports the adult religious emblems program for those adults in service to the Catholic Youth of the diocese. And finally we train and certify religious emblems counselors (needed and required to support the group-based study programs) for the older boys and girls awards.
