W.M.F.A. Scholarship
Windsor Minor Football is proud to announce that they are accepting applications for the 2010 scholarships. This is an opportunity for past players to receive tuition assistance in the form of a one time payment that is applicable to their post secondary education. There will be up to three awards given in the totals of $1500.00, $1000.00, and $500.00. The scholarship was developed with the belief that education and sports are vital in character development of today’s youth, allowing them to continue to be successful after leaving school and entering the career of their choice. In providing this assistance we hope that we are doing our part in helping players to continue on in their education and dreams.

To be eligible for this award the applicant must be under 25 years of age, be currently in high school or first-year university/college, be a resident of the U.S./Canada, and answer two essay questions.

The Bill Eansor Award is named in memory of the late A.W. "Bill" Eansor '49, who had an outstanding record of leadership at the University and was active in the Alumni Association. This award is presented on the basis of leadership ability, community and school involvement, and academic standing. One award of $5,000 ($1,250 x 4) will be made each to an undergraduate student entering first year of study at the University of Windsor.

The Melvin 'Mac' Simpson Award was established in 1965 to assist students of African descent to further their post-secondary education. Mac Simpson was the founder of the North American Black Historical Museum & Cultural Centre. The museum wishes to select graduating students of African heritage to receive awards of $500 each.

OECTA Windsor-Essex Secondary Unit Student Awards The OECTA Windsor-Essex Secondary Unit annually give up to $3000 which is divided among the applicants to a maximum of $300 each for student applications to post secondary education. Applicants must: 1) be the son/daughter of a retired or current member of the Windsor-Essex Secondary Unit; 2) provide an unofficial transcript and updated report card; and 3) provide proof of registration and acceptance at an accredited post-secondary institution. Incomplete and/or late applications will not be considered. Application deadline - May 15, 2012 ECO Canada Scholarship Program ECO Canada awards $2,500 annually to four Canadian students. The amount is provided to each student for their first year’s tuition in an environment-related program at any Canadian post-secondary institution, which can include, but is not limited to, engineering, sciences, social sciences, and mathematics. Scholarships are awarded to individuals who have shown leadership in their communities in the areas of environmental protection, resource management, or environmental sustainability. Students are chosen based on the reference letter and essay they submit about their environmental accomplishments and ambitions. We are looking for individuals who have made significant contributions of time and energy to the Polish community of Windsor as well as a positive contribution to their school through involvement in extracurricular activities while demonstrating a competent level of academic achievement.

Spirit of Hospitality Scholarship is a not for profit organization, our mission is to have help high school students who are inspired with passion and hard work to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. Spirit of Hospitality Scholarship recognizes individuals who have a passion for the hospitality industry and are planning for a career in this exciting industry!

Rylie Nantau Bursary Established in the memory of Rylie Joyce Nantau, who died in 2008 at the age of two years old from a rare form of epilepsy. This bursary established by Rylie’s parents honours Rylie’s strength and courage during her short life. The Rylie Nantau Bursary
is to provide financial assistance to a graduating student within the
Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board who has overcome a
significant personal adversity/obstacle while demonstrating academic
ambition and embracing a way of life that goes above and beyond the
boundaries of the personal adversity/obstacle.
This award
will be given to one graduating student from the Windsor-Essex Catholic
District School Board based on the following criteria:

Application deadline - May 10, 2012 During Professor Plante's 23 years with the University of Windsor, his enthusiasm and innovative teaching, based upon the belief that education should make people better than they would otherwise be, served as an inspiration to his colleagues and students. He was especially interested in developing the imaginative potential of young writers and was among the first in Canada to see the value of teaching Creative Writing at the University level. He also foresaw the importance of making Canadian students aware of their own literary heritage and was a pioneer in including Canadian authors in his courses. It is to perpetuate Homer Plante's ideals and to foster continuing emphasis upon the importance of creativity and original thinking that these awards are offered to senior high school students in his name.

The BBPA National Scholarship Fund (formerly the BBPA Harry Jerome Scholarship Fund) was established in 1986 by the Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA) and is dedicated to supporting and promoting the achievement of academic excellence by Black Canadian youth pursuing post-secondary education.
The BBPA National Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to Black students attending a college or university in Canada and career counseling to high school students. Recipients of BBPA National Scholarships must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents between the ages of 17 and 30 and must demonstrate high academic achievement, financial need and community involvement.
Application deadline - May 29, 2012 The applicant must be from a high school in the Windsor-Essex region, be accepted as a full-time student at either the University of Windsor or St. Clair College, and submit all requested information (i.e. applicant's letter, transcript, references, and application). Bursaries of a minimum of $1000 will be awarded each year to students entering the University of Windsor and/or St. Clair College.
