Snow Angels Bursary
The bursary is available to grade 12 high school students and students attending post secondary institutions and will be awarded based a points system. Students will be required to complete the Snow Angels Student Tracking Form and submit it at the end of the season to be considered for the award. To be eligible for the bursary, the volunteer must be registered as a volunteer with the City of Windsor – Snow Angels program and either be a Grade 12 high school student or attend a post secondary institution and able to provide proof of such. Application deadline - April 1, 2012 OFSAA Alumni Scholarship This year, four OFSAA Alumni Scholarships will be presented to student-athletes in pre-determined OFSAA member Associations from those applications received by the deadline of April 1, 2010. The value of each scholarship is $500. Student applications from the following Associations will be the ONLY ones given consideration in 2010: NOSSA, GBSSA, SWOSSAA, YRAA.

The Bursary programme was designed to assist our children with financial aid during their post-secondary education. Every year 10 students across Ontario are selected as recipients of $500 financial support to cover part of their educational expenses.

The Harold Hewitt Scholarship (HHS) was established in 2001 as a yearly contribution to the post-secondary education of youth in our community. Since 2001, a total of $27,000 has been presented under the HHS. WFCU is proud to continue the tradition by presenting a total of $5,000 to 16 youth through the HHS program this year. Children enrolled in JK to Grade 12, are invited to tell us, in no more than 100 words "What would you do to improve the community you live in? Think of actions that you could carry out to help make the community a better place." Select submissions from each age category (noted below) will be chosen and the authors will be named recipients of WFCU's 2010 Harold Hewitt Scholarship. Application deadline - April 27, 2012 Holmes Foundation Make it Right Bursary The Holmes Foundation's Make It Right® Bursaries are designed to assist students who need financial assistance to obtain training for a career in residential construction or renovation. Every academic year The Holmes Foundation will award up to ten bursaries to students entering or enrolled in a residential construction program at a Canadian college or university. The bursaries, each valued at $1,500 will be awarded up to five male students and up to five female students. The bursaries will be awarded in trust to the students who are judged by The Holmes Foundation who demonstrate both a commitment to a career in residential renovation or construction and a need for financial assistance to obtain training. The bursaries can be used to pay for tuition, books and/or tools. Application deadline - April This bursary has been established to assist students with physical disabilities in full-time study at an ONTARIO COLLEGE OF APPLIED ARTS & TECHNOLOGY. The application form must be completed and accompanied by the following documents: * a photocopy of proof of the applicant's citizenship, such as a Canadian birth certificate, a certificate of Canadian citizenship, or a Canadian Immigration Record; * a copy of the applicant's most recent secondary school transcript; * a typed, one-page letter from the applicant outlining his or her qualifications for the award; * an academic reference from an educator familiar with the applicant; * a personal reference from an individual familiar with the applicant's outstanding qualities and community service; and * a medical report which clarifies the nature of the disability and its implications for learning.

Canadian Hospitality Foundation Scholarships A Secondary School graduate (Canadian citizen) planning to enter college or university program in the food service-hospitality industry, or work experience in food service, hospitality, and culinary-related experience. 5 scholarships of $3,500 each and 1 of $1,000 for degree programs in Hotel; Hospitality; Tourism; Culinary and Food and Beverage; 7 scholarships of $3000.00 for diploma programs in Culinary; Food & Beverage; Restaurant; Hospitality; Tourism. Application deadline - April 29, 2011 The OHF Bursary Program was introduced in 1997 to recognize and reward dedication in education and hockey. The program provides financial assistance to registered OHF participants to offset the cost of post-secondary education. In the past 12 years, the OHF has distributed more than $155,000 to over 170 post secondary students.

Eight College Entrance Awards
will be available to Ontario high school graduates enrolled in a
food-service program for September 2010. The program must be a minimum
of two years and at an Ontario college.

Application deadline - April University of Windsor Entrance Bursary The University of Windsor Entrance Bursary was introduced to assist financially disadvantaged students in meeting the costs of their post-secondary educations. The program provides bursaries valued at $1000 to first year Canadian and Permanent Resident students entering directly from Ontario high schools who can demonstrate financial need. If you feel your financial circumstances warrant consideration, we invite you to apply. Application deadline - April 30 University of Windsor Community Scholars Entrance Award Program The University of Windsor is proud to continue the Community Scholars Entrance Award program for students entering the university directly from Canadian high schools. This award acknowledges and encourages the outstanding school and community leadership contributions of students. We want the students who best exemplify these qualities of strong leadership potential and good citizenship to be our best student citizens at the University of Windsor. Up to 275 awards valued at $1000 will be presented on the basis of leadership ability, involvement in student government and athletics, significant community involvement (beyond any required involvement), and academic standing (minimum 75% average on best six university preparation courses, final and interim as of May). This award can be held concurrently with other University of Windsor scholarships and is intended for students pursuing full-time studies in any University of Windsor program. The Selection Committee on Student Awards at the University of Windsor will determine awards winners. Successful candidates will be notified by the end of May. Application deadline - April 30, 2012 Justice of the Peace Bursary Program The Association of Justices of the Peace of Ontario (AJPO) has allocated funding to create the Association of Justices of the Peace Bursary. This bursary will provide direct support to students in secondary school who have enrolled in a post-secondary institution and who plan to pursue a career in the justice sector. The Justice of the Peace bursary program will help students make the transition from secondary school to university or college. Students must demonstrate financial need, but do not have to have applied for a student loan. One student from each of the seven Ontario Court of Justice regions will be awarded a bursary annually. Application deadline - April 30, 2012 Five scholarships of $1000 will be made available to those applicants 19 or younger as of June 30th when their post-secondary schooling begins. Applicants must be pursuing an education at a college or university in the fall. The area of study should be consistent with Kent & Essex's business profile - preferably agriculture, business or related studies. Application deadline - April 30, 2012 The purpose of these awards are to recognize youth who are making a difference in Windsor. All candidates must be between the ages of 15 - 24, and must submit a one-minute video speaking to the importance of civic engagement in Windsor. |
