For those students interested in applying to a university in Ontario, you must apply through the OUAC website. You will receive an envelope with your access information in
Checklist for completing on-line university applications:
- Access on-line Companion Booklet Compass 101 at http://www.ouac.on.ca/101/index.html
- Read pages 2 - 15 in the Compass 101 Booklet.
- Your high school has already provided the OUAC with an electronic file containing most of your personal and academic information. You simply need to review this information, make changes or additions to personal data where necessary, add your university and program choices and answer a few additional questions.
- Your secondary school counsellor is responsible for making any required changes to your academic data and will provide the OUAC with your current courses of study. Final Semester One and mid-term Semester Two grades are provided to the OUAC (*for entrance decision purposes).
- Use the tips for students page (see attachment below) to complete your on-line application.
- Remember to record your application reference number that will be given to you once you complete your on-line application.
- It costs $125 to complete a base (3 university/program choices) OUAC application form and have it processed. For each additional program beyond the three there will be a $42 charge. Payment is best made by credit card. Payment can also be made by a certified cheque or money order, but must arrive within 2 weeks of applying. (pages 11 - 13)
- Remember to print a copy of your application for safekeeping.
- January 11, 2012 is the deadline for completing on-line applications.
- May 29, 2012 is the latest date by which all secondary school applicants shall expect a response from an Ontario university.
- June 1, 2012 is the earliest date by which Ontario universities may require a response to an offer of admission and a financial commitment of any kind (e.g., registration deposit, residence deposit, etc.) from an Ontario secondary school student.
