In the year of 1983 the hurling club became alive thanks to the efforts of Peter Murphy, Jack & Tom Mahony, John Walsh & Mossie Doody. It was to be the beginning of the most successful hurling club in NSW history, beginning with its first League Title in 1985 against Penrith Gaels. Continuing the winning tradition with league titles 2004, 2005 and numerous state honours.

 

The Ladies team was founded in 1990. The Coast's first title came in 1993 when they captured the league but they had to wait until 1999 for their second league title repeated again in 2000, competed in the Championship Final in 2001 as well as Runners-Up League 2005. The ladies lost by a few points in 2004 in the Summer Competition 10-aside final.

 

The club organises many formal and informal get togethers throughout the year, each one always producing antics and memories, although some would rather forget. As the year progresses the lads and the girls take to the bonding in a different way, which makes for some interesting combinations. Many Coast players have represented NSW and Australasia in the respective tournaments. The Coast has a strong tradition of being part of the NSW state team in both ladies and hurling.

 

The Club trains in the city and is accessible by all either by car or public transport.

 

 

The Coast GAA Club

The Coast GAA Club is an affiliated Club of the "Central Coast Irish Association", which was founded in August 1980. The Central Coast  is approximately one & a half hour's drive north from Sydney and one of the most popular holiday  destinations in NSW. While the clubs roots lie in this area the majority of their members and players are based and play in Sydney. 

The GAA club boasts a long tradition of great hurling and ladies football teams, and has enjoyed a long list of honours in NSW GAA competition. Indeed, the most prestigious tournament outside of the championship is the annual Central Coast GAA tournament. It is the opening competition of the year, where all of the Sydney clubs travel to the Coast sporting their finest recruits in an effort to make their first mark on the new season.

This tournament is highly competitive, but perhaps it is best known for the craic, where all the newcomers create a bond that will last for the year and many years to come.

This event typifies the nature of the club, which is renowned for its characters past & present, as the finest bunch of men and women to carry the spirit of the GAA in sport, song, stories and craic.
