CORNELL COOPERATIVE EXTENSION OF SCHUYLER COUNTY PARENTING EDUCATON PROGRAM TEAM

Our Parenting Education Program consists of a team of educators working together to provide educational opportunities to all families, caregivers, and young people in Schuyler County.  We utilize research based curriculum researched, developed and/or recognized by Cornell University.
We recently added the Strengthening Families Project (SFP) to our program offerings, and because of our unique partnership with Cornell University were able to collaborate with the Youth Bureau, Catholic Charities, and the Department of Social Services to have our team receive training on the SFP Curriculum in late fall of 2008.  Our current team provided our first workshop series earlier this year, and will offer a second workshop series in October.  What is of special interest to the SFP is that it includes parents and teens in sessions together, and apart along with a rich family component.
We also continue to provide the computer based Parenting Wisely program that provides parents of children 3-15 the opportunity to increase their skills surrounding 9 basic parenting strategies.
Additional parenting workshops are offered throughout the year and designed to meet  the needs of our community.

PROGRAMS WE OFFER:

Parents Apart®
- Parents helping children cope with separation and divorce.

Strengthening Families - A Family Life Education workshop series for parents and teens together (10-14) designed to assist adults and teens to increase family communication, build on family strengths, and work on building a positive future.  This class meets for 8 sessions, each 2 hours in length.
