In the Spring of 2006, the Board of Calvary Chapel Lake Arrowhead sensed a strong calling to pursue the possibilities of starting a school on the church grounds. After many meetings and much prayer, Calvary Chapel Christian School was birthed. We began the school in the Fall of 2006 with twelve students, three full time staff and three part time staff. Our first year out we started with 1st grade through 12th grade. As our mascot, we chose the Lion, which comes from Proverbs 28:1 "But the righteous are bold as a lion". During the 2007/2008 school year we added a kindergarten class. We made an attempt for membership with CIF Southern Section for sports, but unfortunately, our application was denied due to our low student numbers. We were encouraged to "reapply after our school has had a chance to experience growth and have expanded athletic offerings." In November of 2008 we attended the Association of Christian School International (ACSI) Convention in order to find out more about accreditation requirements. We were informed that we would not qualify for accreditation from ACSI due to our low number (we needed 75 students to qualify). While at this convention we met a representative from Calvary Chapel Education Association(CCEA). CCEA is in partnership with the Association of Christian Teachers & Students (ACTS). It was exciting to hear that we met the minimum requirements to apply for accreditation through these two associations.
