I Need a Clue

posted ‎‎Apr 14, 2009 1:14 PM‎‎ by John Parker
Yes, it's true, I am clueless.  I missed the last two practices due to business travel (and will miss next Monday's as well), so I don't have anything approaching a set list.  There was a MercyMe song mentioned but I don't remember the name, and I can remember only 4 of the 6 we attempted last night.  It doesn't look like the "Songs" page here has been updated - no new postings and the ones marked as current set list are from the performance a month ago...  a little help please?

John-
Obviously I was out this week, but the previous week we seemed to put together a pretty solid set list. I dont know if Jeremy has changed it or will change it, or if anybody else has some adjustments they'd like to make.
This is what I have from my "active songs" manila folder, in no particular order:
The Heart of Worship
Glorious God
Better is One Day
Still
All to You
Wrap Me in Your Arms
Finally Home (The Mercy Me Song)
Audience of One
Jesus You are Worthy

The girls were going to lead the verses on "Better is One Day" (if they still wanted to - it sounded pretty good last week). And we tinkered with guitar parts a bit and really nailed down some nice harmonies.

In that vein, what kind of capability to do we have and/or what kind of burden would it be to record practices? Is it just too much to set up on the front end? Is it too much trim/edit work on the back end? Maybe find a condenser mic (Shure -58's are not a major investment) and just try and get a decent level in the sanctuary where the vocals can be heard over top of the instruments and set the mic up in the vestibule/entryway maybe. Just thinking out-loud. That way we can go back and listen and if something sounds good we can pass the mp3 around and say "PRACTICE IT LIKE THIS" or if it's not so good we can point to the recording also and say "ANDY, DONT EVER DO THAT AGAIN"

What say you, Immersers?
