Recording

posted Apr 17, 2009 7:55 PM by John Parker

Moving my reply to Andy's response to my "I need a clue entry" below to the front page so it hits people's emails.....

Thanks, Andy.  Recording is easy enough.  We have the choir mics above the stage, and we can put a mic out on the floor.  It's not hard to record it or edit it.  It is a bit tricky to set the channel recording levels to reflect what you're actually hearing in the sanctuary -- two independent sets of volume controls.  But very doable.  I will set it up after church on Sunday, and you guys can record Monday evening.  I will be in Montreal again.

Hey folks,

I am blessed with too much work to do!   Unfortunately I don't have time to think about music until after 3:30 tomorrow.  Then i'll be wondering what is happening Sunday morn for music.  Jeremy mentioned the need for Andy and I to make some noise and lost of folks said they were not going to be in town (I cant remember who).  Just thought i'd try and start some dialogue...

Here's what i know so far:

There will be at least 1 baby dedicated.
It will be cold if the weather's cold as the furnace is out.

I Need a Clue

posted Apr 14, 2009 1:14 PM by John Parker

Yes, it's true, I am clueless.  I missed the last two practices due to business travel (and will miss next Monday's as well), so I don't have anything approaching a set list.  There was a MercyMe song mentioned but I don't remember the name, and I can remember only 4 of the 6 we attempted last night.  It doesn't look like the "Songs" page here has been updated - no new postings and the ones marked as current set list are from the performance a month ago...  a little help please?

"The Plan"

posted Mar 22, 2009 5:29 PM by godlvsusall@yahoo.com

Ok ladies and gents, hope all are well.  We WILL be having practice tomorrow night at the usual time; however, because April is SO busy with everything going on, we will not be having an April performance.  We will use this time to tighten up our sound and work on all those other goodies....joy.  We will also use this time to learn a couple of new songs as well, so if anybody has any, bring them with you to practice.  The choir will be doing special music for the next three Sundays, and I would like for Immerse to do the last Sunday slot in April.  I'm still planning on meeting with the pastor of Onley Baptist and arranging our May performance there.  We have plent of time, but we should definitely work on advertising this as soon as we get the date.  John had a great ad in the newspaper this last time, so I'm going to make sure we get a chance to run that more than once this time, and also that word of mouth gets around as well.  Thank you guys, and I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow night.

Practice 3-16-09

posted Mar 16, 2009 11:54 AM by Andy Coalter

Guys, I spoke with Jeremy about holding a practice tonight and I think the consensus is just to take the night off.   It looked like it was shaping up to be myself, Jeremy & John only in attendance so Jeremy just figured we'd have a rest.

I won't be at next week's practice as I have test after test after test, but will be able to play Sunday morning.

Have a good week all and see you Sunday!

Ok, the vocals have come SOOOO far..some of these some have awesome moments of harmonies.  It's nice to go back and listen to hear the transition from then to now, and the best part about it is that this is only the third time we've done this!!  Heather, is was nice to finally hear you in ALL the music, you did a great job.  Allen, nice guitar...really, if you don't believe me, just listen....lol!!   Really, I think it was a ton better, and I can't wait to hear us three times from now and talk about how much better we've gotten since now.

Tonight

Alrighty, first...tonight was awesome.  I thought we had an excellent sound.  The volumes were great, the music flowed fairly smooth, and the vocals were much tighter than they have been.  And....to top it all off, I was absolutely blown away.  I am SO blessed to have a group of friends like you guys.  I appreciate everything you all do, and I look forward to a long time of sharing music and friendship.  I will talk to Pastor John Burr this week and see if we can arrange our next performance at the Onley Baptist Church.  I think we have a wonderful opportunity to really share our message to other.  John, thank you for all your hardwork today, and for keeping me moving.  Allen, and John, thank you both for working hard to make sure that we had a good sound tonight.  Matt, thank you for stepping up and playing with us, I appreciate everything you bring to the group.  Andy, you have an awesome sound, and we are blessed to have you as part of our group.  Tim, Heather, thank you for bringing you spirit of worship to every service, and being an example for others as to what it means to worship in music.  And keyboard, thank you for playing your drums for us, we appreciate all that you do.  You really stepped up for us tonight!!  Love you guys!!  Oh, and Krista, thanks for nothing....loser :)

RE: sound set up

So love the stage set up... but also didn't like that fact that youth group was vary quiet tonight. No worry's though I only use it for game music and tonight's game was outside so it was cool with me and I loved the proactive move by John and Allen last night. however I do say it may present a problem to the FNL kids program tomorrow.

Thoughts?

Stage set up

posted Mar 12, 2009 1:04 PM by John Parker

Allen and I worked on the sound setup last night and I think we have an improved arrangement.  Allen brought in a 100 ft. snake that gives us some extra mic inputs and really helped clean up the stage.

I will need to do some fine-tuning and set the recording levels Friday night, but the Fender speakers are now run from the amp at the back of the sanctuary, the piano is mic'ed, the bass is now plugged into the sound board, and we have a mic hookup for the mandolin (I'll bring a mic on Fri.)  .  Matt will join us for practice Friday and performance Saturday if that's OK with all.  He would prefer to play the piano, which takes the pressure off Jeremy to play keyboards on every song, but frees him up to do so as the spirit moves.

THANKS , ALLEN!
