About the CBR India Network

 

CBR India Network is a democratic, country led Network formed to support the development and dissemination of CBR as a strategy for inclusive development to promote the needs and rights of every person with disability in India especially children, women and persons from rural/ remote/ least served areas of India.

 

The CBR India Network is part of CBR Asia Pacific Network and CBR Global Network/ International Alliance; formed based on the initiative of World Health Organization during the 1st CBR Asia Pacific CBR Congress, Feb 2009, Bangkok.

 

About the CBR National Seminar - 10th & 11th Dec, New Delhi

 

CBR India Network is hosting the 1st CBR National Seminar on the 10th & 11th Dec, New Delhi under the theme “CBR - Strategy for Inclusive Development”

 

Purpose of the Seminar:

  1. To bring key stakeholders together
  2. Development of a National Alliance with Government and Non Government Development Agencies, Disabled People’s Organizations and others
  3. To provide evidence of CBR as an effective strategy to reduce poverty and enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities and their families
  4. Ensure benefit of Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities reaches to the majority.
  5. Launch the CBR Guidelines developed by WHO, ILO, UNESCO and civil society groups
  6. Conduct 1st General Body Meeting of CBR India Network

 

Expected outcomes:

  1. Strengthen the CBR India Network
  2. Establishing CBR as an operational methodology to implement Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and make disability inclusive development
  3. Linking up CBR with Millennium Development Goals, 11th Five Year Plan and other mainstream development initiatives
  4. Active participation of disabled people and their families/organizations in CBR
  5. Future Plan of Actions on identified needs

 

 

About the delegates:

We are expecting 200-250 delegates from different parts of India they will include - CBR implementers, Persons with disabilities, their family/organizations, representatives from local and international NGOs, UN agencies, Government organizations, Donor agencies, academia, etc..

 

About the programme:

There will be 2 concurrent sessions; the inaugural and closing sessions will be plenary session. Sessions will be in English. Sign language interpretation will be available. Information in accessible forms will be made available on request.

 

About the Venue of the Seminar:

The Seminar will be organized at USI, the venue is disabled friendly and the auditorium, halls and toilets are wheelchair accessible.

Early Bird Fee - Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) per participant:

Seminar fees include: Program schedule/ abstract, stationery and food
