It all started back in January 2008 with a burning desire to spice-up my boring virtual desktop. Halo 3 had been out for a few months, and I wanted something to express my love for the game, while simultaneously beautifying my PC. So, I broke out my then-barely-used Photoshop CS2 and went to work. My first creation was that of the EVA armor permutation (link)... it was an incredibly simple design that took no more then 20 minutes to slap together. The design was posted on the Bungie.net forums, and immediately people started to take interest. Cries for more inundated my inbox, so by popular demand I created a series of similar wallpapers, dubbed "The Steel Collection". As my skills with Photoshop increased, so did the quality/technicality of my creations. My thread rapidly became a Top Topic, and a small fanbase was developed.
The digital art I posted inspired others to do the same: what was once a personal thread then became a hub for all the other digital artists on the Bungie.net forums to post their creations. "The Halo 3 User-Created Wallpaper Thread!" (link) was born. Boasting over 600 posts and 60+ wallpapers from the community, it's still one of Bungie's Top Topics, even after being dormant since May of '08. But, I digress.
I've since created a handful of Halo 3-related art: some have been published by Bungie for use on their website, others have won several Bungie-sanctioned competitions. Here you will find those images (and much more) in the Archives. Please note that images uploaded as .PNG or .BMP file types will not have a preview, so you will need to download the image in order to see it. I apologize for the inconvenience. But rest assured: all files in the Archives are virus-free, so download with confidence. Enjoy!

about.me

Everything I've learned has been self-taught: no classes, no tutorials.
And from what I've gleaned from other artists, both professional and
amateur alike, self-taught seems to be the most common (and most successful) form of artistic
learning. I
guess you could say my style is "photorealistic": I enjoy taking an
image that is obviously fake/computer generated, and making it look
real... or rather "real-ish". But, I'd like to think I haven't been at this long enough to have truly developed a "style" just yet. Regardless, with every completed project I set the proverbial bar higher and higher for myself. Every creation is/has been a learning experience: both failed and successful. Art is a journey... and mine has just begun! I'm excited for what the future holds.

about This image, along with EOD Nightmare (pictured above), comprised 2 of the 4 winning entries in Bungie's very first wallpaper competition. This was one of the first creations to feature hand-drawn details such as battle damage. awards June 27.08 | Winner, Bungie Wallpaper Contest #1 | news.story ........................................................................................... about ODST Recon is one of the most popular wallpapers in my collection. It also happens to be one of my first (and most simple) creations. ODST Recon, along with Unknown Soldier (pictured below), took 2 of the 9 winning Fan Art spots in HBO's contest. This wallpaper features a real photo as a background, taken by my father (and used with his consent). It also features an element I have yet to see in any other Halo-related piece of art: a Spartan in the prone position. The biggest challenge was making the hill in the image look sloped: in the original photo, the hill is actually a close-to-verticle mound. The illusion of a slope was done by adding "artificial aperture" and finding the right angle for the prone Spartan.
