     At the outbreak of hostilities on the planet Onyx, Kurt lead Blue Team on a mission to locate alien technology in the newly uncovered Forerunner city. The mission was abruptly made complicated due to the Covenant locating Onyx and learning of the humans' mission. Kurt and his team managed to learn large amounts of information pertaining to Onyx, in addition to destroying a Sentinel production facility. 

     At the Battle of Onyx, Kurt opted to stay behind so Blue Team could escape. He fought off the Covenant single-handedly, but was ultimately overwhelmed. In a final act of heroism, Kurt detonated two FENRIS nuclear warheads, destroying Onyx and all the Covenant occupying it.

     He will forever be known as the greatest Spartan in the history of the program.
