CATRC Research Fellowship                                                                                                                            

High–level research is only possible if close links established with both
domestic and international scientific and business community.Therefore, the Central Asian Tax Research Center (CATRC) cordially invites you to join its newly launched “Research Fellowship” program. The program is oriented on tax professionals and academics with the purpose to establish continuous mutually beneficial relationships and develop tax education in Central Asia as well as allow our research fellows to address their research objectives. Prof. Marco Greggi - Full Time Associate Professor at the University of Ferrara, Faculty of law. Professor of Tax law at the Superior School of Finance and Economics (Ministry of Finance). Professor of Tax law at the LL.M. in Tax law, University of Bologna.

On February 10th KIMEP was honored to welcome Associate Professor Marco Greggi  as a guest lecturer. Having both practical and academic experience in the field of taxation, Professor Greggi provided KIMEP community with a precious input as to taxation in Italy and European Union.  Read more..>>


        JOSÉ MANUEL ALMUDÍ CID                                                                                     

Prof. JOSÉ MANUEL ALMUDÍ CID-is professor of tax law at the Complutense Universtiy of Madrid. His main fields of research are European tax law in the field of direct taxes, international anti-avoidance rules, the harmonized system of VAT and taxpayer’s guarantees in tax procedures.

He is author on many publications on tax law and regularly invited as speaker in various tax conferences both in Spain and abroad. He is member of theInternational Fiscal Association and of the Spanish Association of Tax Advisors.  Read more..>>

Prof. Byun jointly with the Prof. Balco organized the bilateral Korea-Kazakhstan Tax Forum, which took place twice: Firtst round was held by KIMEP in Almaty, Kazakhstan,February 2011, while the second part of the project followed up in the University of Seuol, South Korea, May 2011. Read more..>>


Diego Modonesi                                                                                                                      

Diego Modonesi currently lives and works successfully in Brussels as is Commission auditor for the EU funds in the framework of the Common Agricultural - Export Refunds sector.

During his career as civil servant for the Italian Customs Administration and for the European Commission, he has gained a considerable experience in customs from a technical point of view.

Catherine Brown                                                                                         

Catherine Brown is a professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Calgary where she has been teaching in the areas of tax, trade and business planning since 1981.

Her current research explores the interaction of tax and trade agreements in regulating tax discrimination.

Over her academic career she has travelled and written extensively in pursuit of these interests. She was a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto 1985, the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (Singapore) (1985), a Fulbright Fellow and Visiting Professor at Stanford University, 1994/95, and Visiting Scholar at UCLA Law School in 2008. Erki UUstalu                                                                                                

Erki is an international tax expert with over 12 years experience in both public and private sectors in Estonia and abroad. He has a law degree from Tartu University, Estonia and postgraduate LLM degree in International Taxation from Leiden University, the Netherlands. His core competences are in the area of international tax structuring and European tax law, the topics he is currently also teaching in Tartu University law Faculty.

His public sector experience was with Fiscal State Aid Unit at European Commission until being appointed as a Counselor of the Estonian Minister of Finance in tax and gambling policy matters (2004-2007). Currently he is a member of the Economic Council to the Secretary General of the Estonian Ministry of Finance and is appointed by the Ministry as an independent person of standing, eligible to become a member of the transfer pricing advisory commission as referred by the EU Arbitration Convention. His private sector experience is from Tax and Legal Department of PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was a Senior Tax Manager. Currently he acts for PwC as an Of Counsel in selected projects.
