I found a bug in sorting by keyword (search word) in Concord. But fix - sorting by keyword (search word) did not ignore case (now it does) I don't know if sorting should consider capitalization, but with the current implementation, capitalization is ignored in all other cases (I hope), so I made this consistent with others. I also released the current beta of CasualConc, version 1.1 beta. I wanted to work on this beta more, but because I have to focus on other things right now, I can't really spend any more time on this now. I'll fix bugs as I use it, but I can't test everything on it right now. I'd really appreciate if you could help improve this version. This version has few new functions and improvements (I hope) of existing functions. And from this version, I enabled localization. But because I can only use Japanese and English, I only added Japanese interface. If anyone is willing to help translation, I might be able to include other language interfaces. You can download 1.1 beta from this page. There's no documentation for new features, but stop word/skip character feature is basically same as that on CasualPConc. The difference is that you need to enable it on the stop word/skip character panel and choose if you want to apply them to Tools in preferences (2 places... sorry). If you can't figure out how to use other new functions, please feel free to contact me at casualconc_(at)_gmail.com (please replace _(at)_ with @). Any bug report/feedback/suggestion is welcome. |

Well, I didn't plan to add any new feature to CasualConc 1.0, but I changed my mind... This is partly because a couple of new features I added to the current beta are useful and one of them is what I wanted to include in version 1.0, but hadn't figured out how. Also I found a bug, which is kind of major, in Cluster, and a minor (meaning I don't expect many people use the feature) bug with lemma was also fixed.
CasualConc Version 1.0.2
Bug fix - In Cluster, the same cluster was counted twice if a search word/phrase appears twice in a cluster (such as 'is that is') - Related to the above one: in Cluster, if a search word appears twice in a cluster, only one word was colored
- In Cluster and Collocation with Lemma search is on, not all words with the same lemma appear in the list (right most column)
New feature/enhancement - Concordance Plot -- you need to set 'Scope of Context' to 'File' and check 'Create Concordance Plot' - Search word/context search word history
I hope these new features didn't introduce new bugs...
I also updated CasualTranscriber, a transcription helper application. Now it runs on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. And I added 'insert tag' function and enhanced regular expression search/replace.

In the development of the next version, I found a bug which affects the version 1.0 and fixed it.
Bug - the context text (in context view) is not properly displayed when the search word appears in the first paragraph of a file.

I found a bug in CasualConc. It's a minor one (a feature I believe not a lot of people use).
Bug fix - crashed when creating a database file in Advanced Corpora Database mode when tag deletion is on.
If you are one of the rare people who uses this function, please download the latest version.

I didn't get any feedback/bug reports (sadly...), so I've decided to make the latest build 1.0. Now officially it's out of beta, just because I decided so. Here's the minor changes I've made since the last post. The biggest change is the inclusion of the help file. It's basically the same information you can find on this site, without images. Casualconc version 1.0Bug Fix- timer for File Info now working - move tables in Cluster moves everything including span and type - word list import now functions Enhancement- creating File Info table is much faster - progress bar in File mode progresses based on the number of files processed - now including help files (the same content as you find on the site; English only) From now on, I will only maintain this version if I ever get bug reports. I've already started making more fundamental changes (background) and adding features I want to use. I'll release the new version as version 1.x in the future (I'm not sure when). If you have any feature requests, I'll try to add them once I finish making changes I want to make. So if you have any, please let me know. You can email me to the address in Contact or leave your comment on the blog or post on the discussion board. I've also updated CasualTagger, CasualTextractor, and CasualMecab. These are still under development and might have a lot of bugs. Also the documentation is not up-to-date. I'll probably wait until features are set before I update the documentation. Most of the new functions are obvious, but some are not so. But if you are interested, please try them and let me know what you think. Any bug report is welcome. More information about the updates are on the blog. The new betas are available on this site (under Other Applications). |

I made a few changes and fixed a few bugs on CasualPConc. I guess not a lot of people use it, so I won't go into details. You can download the new version here. I also updated the documentation on CasualPConc. Now it covers most of the features. A new addition is CasualMultiPConc. This new application is based on CasualPConc and can handle more than 2 parallel corpora (up to 5). This is my attempt to answer one request to make CasualPConc handle more than 2 corpora. CasualMultiPConc has very limited features and it may still have many bugs (as much as CasualPConc). You can get more information here. |

I fixed a couple of bugs and added a few features. Contrary to what I wrote last time, I made a lot of changes to East Asian language support. But it's still not 1.0. I need to make sure CasualConc doesn't have any major obvious bugs (though I'm sure I can't get rid of all the bugs). So the version number is still 0.9.9.9 (the date is 20090922).
Bug fixes - crashes in Word Count when n-gram list is created in File Mode. - File Information treated word lengths in bytes not in characters
Feature Improvements - added two new Word Count sort options: Word Length and Reverse Word Length - added Character as a search word choice - full regular expression search - a progress bar is added at the bottom of the main window, though it doesn't indicate the progress (it shows CasualConc is processing your request) - much better East Asian Language support (Japanese (plain) and Japanese (wakachi))
See the blog for more detailed information.
I updated the documentation on CasualConc and CasualTagger. I added a page for East Asian Language support in CasualConc.

Well, I'm running out of version number before 1.0. So this is the last feature addition to CasualConc before 1.0. I'll focus on bug fixes if there is any report or if I can find any when I use it. CasualConc
New Feature - File Information (see this page) Improved Feature - Fisher's Exact Test is much faster (though accuracy is not fully tested) I'd appreciate if anyone can test Fisher's Exact Test. |

I updated CasualPConc to make it compatible with Snow Leopard. There might be some more bugs, though. CasualPConc is available here. Also I finally updated the documentation on CasualPConc. It now covers most of the tools, but it is not yet complete. |
