If
you repeatedly search words/phrases in the same corpus (i.e. exploring
different words/phrases for preliminary research or use your corpus as
a guide for your writing), the Database Mode is for you. To switch to the Database Mode, simply click Database of the button on the upper right corner of the window. Creating a new database fileTo create a new database file, switch to File view by clicking the File tab on the window. First, you need to select files to create a database file from. Click Add File(s) Button. You
are prompted to select a file or folder to add to the list. If you
select a folder, all the files of your selected file types (see Preferences - Files) in the folder and sub-folders will be added to the list. In this case, BROWN folder is selected, so all the files in this folder will be added. If
you click a file name (or line), the content of the text will appear in
the text box below. You can delete a selected file or open it with
your selected application as you do in File Mode. Repeat this process until you add all the files you want to include in the new database file. When you add all the files you want to include in the database, click Create Database File button on the lower right corner of the window. You will be prompted to select a folder to save the database file and name the file. Depending
of the number of the files you included and total number of
tokens(words) in the files, this will take some time.
If the database file is successfully created, you will see the following message. If the database with the same name exist, you will see the warning message. If you do not want to overwrite it, click Cancel and create a new database with a different name. Opening a database file to analyzeNow you can select the newly created database file for the analysis. Go to Menu -> File -> Open... Or click this icon on the upper left corner of the window. You will be prompted to select a database file. The selected database file will be displayed on the window. Now you are ready for the analysis!! |
