in the textile block system used by wright, individual concrete blocks are precast and
shipped to the building site where they are assembled into
walls and joists. the blocks are coffered to reduce weight but maintain
strength. in the wall drawing below, the blocks shown are 16" square by
3 1/2 inches thick with a volume of .34 cf and weight of 50 lbs. the
floor/roof drawing shows blocks which are 16" square with a volume of .25 cf
weighing 37 lbs. both wall and joist blocks are light enough that an
individual can position them by hand, weave them into the building with steel
rebar, which is then locked into place with cement grout.
