The Way of Change

Dear President Obama,

“Come next year we will have a new president of the United States of America named Barack Obama. He will be sworn in at a time of great economic turmoil. Not since the Great Depression have we seen such large scale financial impact to our banking industries” [1]. Our economy is in a recession and in my opinion it has more to do with the illegal immigrants taking jobs of the American citizen more then anything else. "To many people, immigration issues revolve around economic arguments, such as the fact that immigrants will take work away from native workers at a much lower wage" [2]. Illegal immigrants sneak into our country and steal jobs from American citizens, the ones that really deserve to work in this country. We also have problems with the crime and the citizens of America not being able to obtain a job because an illegal alien has assumed the position.

“The FBI reports that crime is up in the United States and we know from illegal immigration statistics that illegal immigration is also up in the United States” [3]. The two statistics are very much related to one another; the crime has raised along with the illegal immigration rates, and it can not be denied that the two are not related. The crime rate at only risen in the last couple years and almost half the violent crimes being committed are due to illegal immigrants, “The truth is that over 40% of the people who are in the Arizona prison system for violent crimes are in fact illegal aliens” [4]. This statistic is real and scary to think about, it is bad enough that we have the amount of crime we do, but to know that nearly half of the violent crimes being committed are acts of people that are not legally aloud to be in our country to begin with. Only more is to come, “One fear that has been perpetuated across the land and causing shock waves in our society is the fear of too many illegal aliens crossing over our border” [5]. When more illegal aliens enter our country there will be a greater risk of unemployment rates rising, crimes rates rising, and a shortage of jobs across the United States.

"Why do countries differ substantially in the size of legal permanent immigration to the United States since 1965, even after the repeal of the discriminatory national origins quota system?" [6]. Our country seems to attract illegal aliens to come right in, this needs to be stopped. Just by stopping, just the Mexican illegal immigrants from crossing over from Mexico to the United States would solve half of our countries problems with illegals; "Illegal aliens in the United States, and with 300,000-400,000. Roughly half of these illegals are Mexicans. Mexicans are also by far the largest group among family unification" [7].  By stopping the illegal Mexicans from coming over that right there would cut our illegal alien number in half. Our country's crime rate would decrease drastically just by stopping this one section of illegal immigrants. The real citizens of this country would have a better chance of finding a job; any kind of job. It is what the true American person deserves not, "an illegal immigrant using someone else's SSN to gain employment" [8]. It's not right that illegal immigrates come into our country and steal people's Social Security number to obtain a job that they do not even deserve while at the same time possibly ruining someone else's life, or more then one person. The person that the social security number belongs to and to the other man or woman that was looking to get that job. “Nearly every job today involves information processing in some form because all the manual label is done by intelligent or semi-intelligent machines”[9]. It is hard for me to understand that people can go to school for many years, graduate high school, college, and maybe even graduates school. To have a great job, to be successful and be happy with where they may end up. Still some how people who do not deserve to get a job that may not even be a citizen of the US can get a job that is not rightfully theirs. Many things need to be fixed in this great country we live in, and that first step may just need to be to get rid of all the illegal immigrates in this country.

"As Debra Castillo states, the cafe functions as "an empty...incorporates an episode where illegal factory workers are targeted in a police raid in order to...political fragmentation: one part immigrates to the US" [10]. Debra Castillo is saying that the United States are making fake work shops to lure in illegal immigrants, just so that the police can raid the place and take into custody all the illegal aliens. President’s time and time again have promised the borders would be closed to illegal immigrants, yet somehow the craze continues, "We must prove to them that we can and will secure our borders first while respecting the dignity and rights of citizens and legal residents of the United States of America" [11].  I am proud to be an American; I love my country and the things it brings. I do not always agree on the actions taken or not taken but I agree that an important action that needs to take place is that of securing our borders of illegal immigrants. Some of the events that have taken place in this country are wrong, and need fixing, just one of them being the illegal immigrants. I am not yet eighteen but I wish I could had been just to vote; my vote would had gone to you, I believe in you and the things you stand for. I have faith that you can restore our country to the land it used to be; he respected land.
