Hyde Park
Hyde Park
Before making it to the palace for the ceremony, we ate breakfast at the hotel which is free and it was surprisingly really good. Then, we walked through St. James' park towards the palace. After the Changing of the Guard and after lunch we walked through Hyde Park towards the Victoria and Albert Museum. All of the parks, we've so far been in three, are gorgeous! They are massive and are really clean and beautiful. They all also have restrooms (we haven't been in them yet) and they all have little snack stands with sandwiches and snacks. It was also really cool to see that in each park the city provides nice lounge chairs and we saw tons of people sitting in them enjoying lunch or just the view. We also saw that in the parks, everyone with a dog had it off leash. Some more observations: The pigeons are really fat while the squirrels and the people are skinny. We are usually the fattest people around. Londoners seem to always dress nice. They smoke more than Americans. They are usually tall and thin. The restaurants take FOREVER to give you your bill. Some are...less attractive than Americans. Dogs are allowed on the Tube. 99% of workers in restaurants, stores, hotels, are really nice and helpful. Most people are younger than 60 here. They all wear cool shoes. Nobody walks around in pajamas. We have not seen one Hummer. The toilets are shaped a little square. Everything closes early. Many places do not indicate whether or not they accept credit cards. Many Londoners pay with cash. The three types of restaurants that are most prevalent in London are Italian, Indian, and Chinese. Take out restaurants are really popular and generally very tasty. The taxis are huge. Dogs are allowed off leash in all parks. All parks have specific trash bins for dog waste. When you try on shoes in a store they don't bring them out in the box and if you want to buy them they take them from you, place them in a box, and put them at the sales counter and you get it when you go up to pay. The women wear a lot of makeup. We've seen two hookers (not near our hotel thank goodness). They play the mostly the same music as we do. They seem obsessed with Asian things. Okay, we can't think of anymore.
