HOLIDAY PAJAMAS FOR FAMILY : MENS FLANNEL NIGHTSHIRTS. Holiday Pajamas For Family
Christmas Traditions ********** Christmas Traditions are very important to me. From a very early age, I can remember certain traditions I had with my own family growing up and treasured them. I remember getting to a certain age and all those traditions seemed to go away. I could never understand why that was and why they had to stop. Did my mother think that we would not appreciate doing the same things that we did when we were young? When having my own children, I made a promise to myself that I'd always carry out Christmas traditions with them...never to break any of them. So far, I have not. Both my ex and I work hard at keeping traditions in their lives the same. One such tradition that we've had for years now is attending our good friend's annual Polar Express gathering. Each year dozens of families and their children pour into their home and produce our magic ticket at the door, to be greeted by the most wonderful host...err I mean, "Conductor Kim"...and an evening of magic, "togetherness", and fun begins. Once there, we file into the back yard and spread out our blankets...pillows. The back yard gets packed with people and we're all nestled in together, that's how many attend. Most come in pajamas or sweats, fuzzy slippers, comfy clothes. We all lay on our blankets talking...sharing...laughing. Kids all play and are giggling (these kids have all played sports together over the course of seven years). Popcorn is served...even hot chocolate at intermission. The movie is projected on a big screen and for 90 minutes...we are blessed with a wonderful Christmas story and everyone lays together enjoying the family time...the unity. To me...this is pure magic and happiness all wrapped into one. It's the one time each year where my children all look forward to the times we have together like this. When we go, we ALL usually go. Caitlin, Courtney, JT, myself...James, Amy and little Ben. It's a "family" tradition. I think it makes our children happy to know they have these things from us. They love the family time and the story always touches our hearts. I admit...I ALWAYS CRY at the end. When we leave...we're always given a special silver bell in a ribbon to put on our tree. I have one Santa tree in my house where all the bells have been placed. It's such a wonderful keepsake to have of our times there. ********** This year it was only JT and I that attended, for everyone else had other commitments. When I told JT that it would be he and I going...he cracked the biggest smile. He was so happy that we were going, even if it was just us. He's still not afraid to lay next to me and snuggle to watch a movie. When it ended, he gave me a big hug and kiss. It was another magical evening watching The Polar Express with my son. For a small bit, all the world was right. ********** This Christmas tree is that of my friends...our gracious hosts. It stands in the front foyer of their home as you walk inside. It's a beautiful tree, adorned with the most wonderful ornaments. Magical really. I couldn't help myself from capturing a bit of what they give to us. They've been so good to our family...my children...that this truly shows the warmth from them. I will always appreciate them, for they are essentially a part one of the Christmas traditions we set forth each year with our children. I don't think they even know what they've done for our family and I'm forever grateful. Here's to Christmas traditions. ********** 365: 239: Picture the Holidays: This Magic Moment
Merry Christmas!!!! I'm not going to lie, I didn't have much time for photographs today... I woke up and did Christmas morning, which was wonderful. I love spending time with my family, and it is so fun to see others enjoying gifts that you picked out just for them! Once all the presents were unwrapped and the living room was a disaster, we prepared for our delicious lunch. My mom outdid herself (as usual) and we had a great lunch. After lunch, I got in my car and drove to Cutter's house to celebrate Christmas with his family. I ate another delicious meal, played a lot of fun Christmas games, and had a wonderful time! Needless to say, this photo isn't awesome. I'm not sure that it captures a "magic moment" as the prompt encouraged. Also, I'm not sure if anything is in focus. But, for some reason, I'm drawn to it.. It's a sweet picture of my sister waiting to open her numerous gifts, but more importantly it shows my family's Christmas morning. I hope that all you out there in cyber space have had a wonderful day!
