The "Matsudo-nian" Call
Evangelistic Opportunity in Matsudo
Japan is noted for Mt. Fuji and their beautiful pine trees. Our family now has an opportunity to work in Matsudo city in Chiba prefecture, just outside of downtown Tokyo. The apostle Paul once received a vision of a man from "Macedonia" begging him to come and teach them. Although it was not a "vision," we had a similar call from the members of Matsudo Church of Christ, asking us to come at teach them the Bible and work with them. We are thrilled with this new opportunity before us. Matsudo means "Pine Door" - so it appropriate to show on our family site a picture of pine trees with a Mt. Fuji background, as our goal to evangelize in Matsudo and to spread God's message to all parts of Japan. |
God's Light Shining in Japan
Japan - Land of Contrasts
Both ancient and modern are combined in various combinations around the country. The beauty of the fragile cherry blossoms last only a few weeks in the spring. It reminds us of how short life really is and how important it is to us as Christians to let God's beauty be seen in our short lives on this earth. God began the world by bringing light into existence (Genesis 1:3). Though Jesus came to bring life and light to shine in this dark world, the darkness has not understood God's "true light" - Jesus (John 1:4-9). Jesus taught that his followers are the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world" (Matthew 5:13-16). Those who follow Jesus should shine for Him! It has been the purpose of our Carrell family in Japan to not only bring the "light of the gospel" to the lives of those living in Japan's darkness, but to also let the light of Christ's love shine each day by the way we live before the world. It is our prayer that you will be encouraged and uplifted by what you find here in our family pages. May God bless you |
