   Encouraging Excellence in Teaching

The Carolinas Associates

is an organization of active or retired North and South Carolina college and university faculty members and their spouses who express a major commitment to teaching, are interested in and active in scholarship, and are concernedwith the development of students in terms of their values and social responsibilities.
The Carolinas Associates was chartered in March 1987, as successor to the Carolinas Region of the Danforth Associates, a regional organization of a national academic network sponsored for 25 years by the Danforth Foundation of St. Louis, MO.

The purposes of the Carolinas Associates are to recognize and encourage effective teaching on the college campus and to humanize teaching and learning for members of the campus community; to offer opportunities for interdisciplinary and interinstitutional activities among faculty members and spouses who have broad concern for values in education and society at large and who, as persons interested in teaching and scholarship, show a specific concern for students as persons.
