Council Member Kendall Stewart was born in St. Vincent. He is an alumnus of City College and New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He has practiced medicine for over twenty years. Trained as a podiatrist, Stewart entered the political arena in 1992 when he was elected to the Office of State Committeeman for the 58th Assembly District (which includes Flatbush, East Flatbush and Canarsie, Brooklyn). His priorities as a council member include providing comprehensive services to seniors, better schools, quality tutoring and after-school programs, more job opportunities for all, improved health care, exceptional public safety, more affordable and accessible child care, better quality of life in the community, clean streets and access to immigration services. He will continue to work to bring funds, scholarships, programs and all resources to improve the community. He has put computers in every school in the 45th Council District. He will continue the development of commercial areas and help small businesses to grow. He will work to provide more access to BEACON programs. He will continue to work with the police, sanitation and other agencies to improve the quality of life. Stewart knows the many problems in the community. His first term in the Council prepared him to tackle the difficult jobs ahead. He will work hard to bring elected officials and community leaders together in a united effort to serve all of the community. Councilman Kendall Stewart enjoys serving the people of the 45th Council District and will continue to do his best to serve them well. Dr. Stewart, on March 27, 2009 visited PS 268 at a Parent Child Banquet. The Lenox Christian Youth Chorus were also present. This is how a community works for the betterment of each other.
