GUMNUT CARAVAN CLUB INC.

‘THE LITTLE CLUB WITH GREAT FELLOWSHIP’

Our club commenced in 1988 and was formed to satisfy a group of enthusiastic caravanners who wanted a different and friendly club more aligned to bush camping and so the GUMNUT CARAVAN CLUB INC. was formed.  However, over recent years the club has had to change due to the dwindling available sites for bush camping.  Our club is the smallest in Queensland with a limit of sixteen (16) caravans.

Once a month the club now travels within two hours drive of Brisbane and enjoy venues in The Scenic Rim, the Brisbane Valley and north and south of Brisbane at either Shire Reserves, Showgrounds, Forest Reserves, National Parks and some sites where no facilities exist.   Your own toilet, shower and power are a requirement for members and visitors. At least once a year some members travel further afield to Camel Races or Camp Oven Festivals and also to the State Rally.  This adds to the variety and experience of club members.  Club members as affiliated members of the Combined Caravan Clubs of Queensland Inc. are able to visit State and Interstate Rallies (Annually) and National Rallies (3 Yearly).

At our rallies members play Disc Bowls, cards, have craft activities, morning walks and also exploring local places of interest are always on the agenda, not to forget our group tea breaks where some valuable and helpful tips and interesting experiences are often passed on to members or visitors.   Community dinners are also held throughout the year.  The club enjoys a get together on Saturday night around a camp fire (where possible) and enjoy tales, songs, games and poems.  Sunday before morning tea a short General Meeting is held to discuss future venues and other club business.

The Gumnut Chronicle is the monthly newsletter, which is sent to every member advising of future rallies and important news.  The joining fee of the Gumnut Caravan Club Inc. is $20 and members pay an annual fee of $30 per caravan plus a $5 monthly rally fee.  Dogs are permitted at the discretion of the Management Committee (with the exception of venues like National Parks and places where dogs are not allowed).   As a visitor your first three visits are free except for paying sites.
