The Gold Coast Caravan Club Inc. was formed in 1988. We currently limit our membership to 50 caravans. Our membership is made up mostly of mature couples with comradeship very evident by the level of enjoyment shown at each rally. As with most clubs to become a member you must have your own caravan and attend three rallies. At the end of the third rally an application for membership is submitted for the Committee’s approval. New members are inducted at their fourth rally. Visitors are welcome at the President’s invitation. The Club holds rallies every month apart from January. Our rallies are generally within 300 kilometres or 3 hours travel time from the Gold Coast, although rallies can be held outside of those criteria from time to time. Members are expected to take turns in organizing and conducting rallies. We normally stay in areas that have power, toilets, and showers available but there are times when more basic “Bush Camp” type facilities are used. Generally the areas are either Caravan Parks or Showgrounds. Our rallies formally begin on Friday at “Happy Hour” when the President welcomes everyone and concludes after morning tea on Sunday although our members enjoy our rallies so much that they often arrive some days earlier and remain a couple of days after. Activities during a rally can include day trips, games, communal meals, entertainment and visits to local restaurants and clubs. The annual membership fee are due on the 30th September. There is no joining fee. Our Club has “a no pets policy.” The recurring comment from new members when they are inducted is “We wish we had joined the Club years ago”. |
