Bayside

Bayside Caravan Club Brisbane Inc. was formed in June 2002.  This came about from a letterbox drop and lunchtime gathering in May of people interested in forming a caravan club.  From this gathering a group of 16 couples and their caravans headed to Esk for a weekend together. The club was then formed.

Our first rally was held at Kalbar in July and we have rallied once a month since then.  We have rallied in some great places and are still finding new venues to go to.  We rally in a variety of venues including showgrounds, caravan parks, scout camps and other camping areas and each venue is usually within our limit of 200 – 250 kilometres from Brisbane. Some areas we have rallied in include Toogoolawah, Boonah, Woodford, Canungra, Beaudesert, Maleny, Cooroy, Rathdowney, Kyogle.

Our name and logo – Bayside and a Dolphin – were chosen because of the area in which the initial gathering took place.  Our members though, come from a wide area in south east Queensland including Warwick, Ipswich, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast just to name a few.

Our weekend rallies are usually very busy and pass too quickly.  The official part of the weekend is from Friday night until lunchtime Sunday following our monthly club meeting.  Most members arrive on Thursdays and leave on Mondays.  Our activities include eating out on Friday nights, morning and afternoon teas and happy hours all shared together, combined meals either on a BYO or shared basis, craft, outings, disc bowls, visits to the townships, variety and theme nights or nights where ‘Anything Goes’!

We sometimes go on roving rallies usually from our own monthly rally to the State Rally, which is held once a year in various areas in Queensland (depending on the clubs that are organising it for that year).  A National Rally is held every 3 years and this depends on which state is hosting the rally for that particular year.

As a club we share a lot of information regarding our caravans etc, we use them more often rather than just once a year for annual holidays and enjoy the social aspect of being with other like minded people.
