Keynote Speakers

Gary Moon, MDiv, PhD, (Fuller Theological Seminary) is vice president, integration chair and professor of psychology and spirituality at the Psychological Studies Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a visiting professor at Emmanuel College, Alliance Theological Seminary (Manila, Philippines) and Georgia State University, and he has also worked in clinical psychology practice for more than a decade. Moon also serves as an executive editor for Conversations: A Forum for Authentic Transformation and director of research and development for LifeSprings Publishing. He has written articles and presented papers on a variety of topics for a wide array of academic journals, popular magazines, and professional seminars and conferences. His books include Spiritual Direction and the Care of Souls (IVP, 2004); Homesick for Eden: Confessions About the Journey of a Soul (LifeSprings, 1996, Servant, 1997), The Bible Ride (3 volumes, Servant) and Falling for God (Waterbrook).

Everett L. Worthington Jr., Ph.D. is professor of psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University (largest state university in Virginia). He is also a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Virginia. He has published over 20 books and over 200 articles and scholarly chapters, mostly on forgiveness, marriage, and family topics. He frequently discusses forgiveness, marriage, and family in media. He considers his life mission to be to bring forgiveness into every willing heart, home, and homeland.

What You Will Receive

 At the 2008 CAPS East conference, you will join with colleagues and friends in order to receive professional training as well as take advantage of opportunities to network, and, in all likelihood, create long lasting fellowship. You will enjoy the smaller, intimate  nature of this conference, as it allows attendees to spend quality interactive time with the guest speakers.

Continuing Education

Continuing Education opportunities will be available for the keynote and paper sessions with a expected total of 7 continuing education hours available to conference attendees.  There will be an ethics track available for attendees to be able to collect some ethics-specific continuing education.

PER is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. PER is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and a co-sponsor of this program. PER may award NBCC approved clock hours for programs that meet NBCC requirements (Approval # 5536). Please check with your state counseling board to see if they accept the NBCC providership. PER is approved as a provider for continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards, 400 South Ridge Parkway, Suite B, Culpepper, VA 22701. www.aswb.org. ASWB Approval Period: 4/15/06 – 4/15/09. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine if they endorse the ASWB providership.
