Basic Emergency Services Training & Testing
Cadets must be properly trained to participate in Air Force-approved exercises and missions. This process can be time-consuming, but it is necessary for all CAP cadets and seniors.
To Participate in ES training or mission
The cadet or senior must do the following:
- Complete the OPSEC (operations security awareness) training video on eServices.
- Complete Level I training for seniors, or cadets must earn his/her first stripe (Curry achievement):
- Pass Leadership Test 1.
- Pass physical training test.
- Attend moral leadership meeting at squadron.
- Come to meetings.
- Complete BDU uniform.
- Pass review board.
- Pass the open-book CAP Emergency Services 116 test and obtain certificate:
To Fully Qualify for GTM3 badge, UDF or MRO rating
The cadet or senior must do the following:
- Pass the open-book FEMA-NIMS IS-100a test and obtain certificate.
- Go to the IS-100Aa testing site. Allow about 3 hours.
- Review the training materials.
- Take the test on one screen while training materials are on another screen.
- Pass the open-book FEMA-NIMS IS-700a test and obtain certificate.
- Go to the IS-700A testing site. Allow about 3 hours.
- Review the training materials.
- Take the test on one screen while training materials are on another screen.
- Complete all tasks on the front page of the GTM3 SQTR, UDF SQTR or MRO SQTR. These Specialty Qualifcations Training Records are available in your squadron binders or in eServices.
Please keep in mind that this is a process. For most cadets, it takes some time. Other cadets seem to fly through it. If you don't pass a test the first time, don't sweat it. You can retake it again -- just like ALL of us have done, no matter what our age.
Advanced Training & Testing
- FEMA-NIMS IS-200a -- For cadets who wish to attend Hawk Mountain Ranger School, assist at mission base, or train as a ground team leader.
- FEMA-NIMS IS-800b -- For cadets who wish to attend Hawk Mountain Ranger School, or train as ground team leader.
- Air-Ground Handling and Marshaling Procedures -- This is mandatory training and a test for anyone who attends glider or flight academy, or wants to participate in pilot training. Use this link to get to the training, or you can find it in eServices under CAP Multimedia and Video.
