The young lad demonstrated how his medieval rat traps (in the foreground) worked - he'd set them up overnight but hadn't caught anything. These were taken at a Medieval Arts and Crafts weekend held at Rievaulx Abbey this weekend - we thought we'd head up for a day out and i figured i'd get some photography practice in at the same time. The "villagers" were really knowlegeable and passionate about the history, faithfully demonstrating how arts and crafts were produced in medieval times - made for a really interesting day out. Rather than just "turn up for work", the re-enactors actually camp out for the weekend, and live the medieval lifestyle, cooking their own food etc. Turns out to be a very good way of seeing historical ruins - they stay there overnight so get to have a wonder around once the public have gone in the best light of the day - quite jealous!
