BROCKTON — A 16-year-old boy has been ordered held without bail in connection with a fatal, broad daylight shooting in Brockton.

Manuel Lopes pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Brockton District Court to charges of murder, carrying a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition, and discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

Lopes is accused of killing 18-year-old Brockton resident Matthew Collins.

A second man, 19-year-old Admir Lopes Resende, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to accessory after the fact in the case. He was ordered held in lieu of $100,000.

Police told The Enterprise of Brockton that multiple shots were fired into a crowd around 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Collins died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
