Taunton man killed in Route 24 shooting

A 29-year-old Taunton man was killed early Sunday when someone from another vehicle on Route 24 opened fire into the car in which he was passenger, reports the Standard-Times.

Troy Pina was shot about 1:45 a.m. between Taunton and Fall River as the vehicle was traveling south on Route 24, according to Gregg Miliote, a spokesman for District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter.

Miliote said Pina was seated in the front passenger seat and was one of four occupants in a black 2006 Chrysler 300.

The driver of the car drove to St. Anne’s Hospital, Fall River, where Pina was pronounced dead at 2:15.
