Teixeira, 66, of New Bedford died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Elsa C. (Doroin) Teixeira. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Edwin R. and Mary (Almeida) Teixeira, he lived in the city for many years. Mr. Teixeira served in the Air Force from 1954 until his retirement in 1974. During his 20 years in the service, he was stationed in China, Cambodia, Thailand, Greenland, Vietnam and the Philippines. After his retirement, he earned his bachelor's degree in business management from Southeastern Massachusetts University. He was later employed as a veterans' representative for the Job Placement Center, as an employment and training supervisor for the Division of Employment Security in Boston, and as an administrator for the Department of External Affairs in Boston. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Joya Teixeira of Montross, Va., Kim Tubbs-Herron of Columbia, Md., and Rene DeBarros of New Bedford; a son, Michael O'Neil of Arizona; a brother, Edwin R. Teixeira Jr. of Worcester; four grandchildren, Dameon Brooks, Kira Tubbs, William C. DeBarros Jr. and Kendra DeBarros; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Theresa Duarte. His funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Assumption Church.
