| Jose A. Gonsalves | | |  GONSALVES, JOSE A., 78 of Grosvenor Ave. died Monday, June 29, 2009 at his home. He was the husband of Inacia (Neves) Gonsalves to whom he was married to for fifty two years.
He was born in Brava, Cape Verde Islands a son of the late Manuel J. and Candida (Neves) Gonsalves. Mr. Gonsalves was a parts manager for the former Viking Olds Cadillac in Middletown for thirty years before retiring. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and also served thirty years with the U.S. Army Reserves. He was one of the founding members of Mended Hearts, Chapter 185 and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Francis Xavier Church.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Dina Veiga and Christine Gonsalves both of East Providence, one sister, Virginia Neves Gonsalves of East Providence, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Servulo Gonsalves and brother of the late Maria G. DePina.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 8:00 A.M. from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Ave. with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 A.M. in St. Francis Xavier Church, North Carpenter St. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
