| Joao Gomes | | | BROCKTON Joao Gomes, age 80 years, of Brockton, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at Signature Health Care Brockton Hospital. He was the husband of Margarida (Soares) Gomes of 53 years. Mr. Gomes was born in Brava and moved to the United States in 1971. He was a member of St. John Baptista at St. Edith Stein Church in Brockton. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jose Gomes, Henri Gomes and Daniel Gomes; four daughters, Maria Almeida, Domingas Lomba, Madeleine Amado and Cecile Gomes; five grandsons, Antonio Lomba, Daniel Gomes Jr., John Michael Gomes, Henri Gomes and Isaiah Amado; six granddaughters, Sasha Lomba, Shari Almeida, Karine Almeida, Chantal Gomes, Serena Amado and Aaliyah Gomes; and a host of other family members. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will take place Tuesday, at 10 a.m. in St. Edith Stein Church in Brockton. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place Monday, from 5-9 p.m. in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main St., Brockton, MA.
