GONCALVES, ALFREDO S., 74, of Providence and of Assomada, Santiago, Cape Verde, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 27 at his home in Providence. He was the husband of Alice (Ribeiro) Goncalves. Born in Assomada, Santiago, Cape Verde, a son of the late Arsenio da Silva Goncalves and Luiza da Silva Goncalves, he was the President of ADG Real Estate, Inc. He was a communicant of St. Michaels Church, Providence, and Igreja de Nossa Senhora de Fatima in Assomada. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons Olivio Goncalves, Euclides Goncalves and Lucilio Furtado, and by his daughters Maria Goncalves, Lucidia Goncalves and Patricia Goncalves. He was the father of the late Emanuel Goncalves. He was also the grandfather of fifteen and the great-grandfather of three. He was the brother of Francisco Goncalves, Joao Goncalves, Palmira Alvarenga, Zulmira Monteiro, Andresa Barros, Maria Monteiro and Alice Goncalves all of Providence, Daniel Goncalves of Assomada, Santiago, Cape Verde, Tomosia Goncalves of Portugal and Emilia Freitas of Cranston. He was the brother of the late Jose Goncalves. Calling hours will be held at the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home, 1895 Broad Street at Park Ave., Cranston on Thursday from 4:00p.m.to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michaels Church, Oxford Street, Providence on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
