DEOLINDA M. FORTES, 69, of Boutwell Street, a retired packer, died Thursday at home. She was the wife of Joseph Fortes. Born in Brava, Cape Verde, a daughter of the late Manuel F. and Avelina (Tavares) Monteiro, she came to this country 18 years ago, settling in Pawtucket. Mrs. Fortes had been a packer at the New England Paper Tube Co. for 10 years before retiring in 1991. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Domingas Fortes Pereira and Maria Monteiro Fortes, and three sons, Moises M., Manuel M. and Pedro M. Fortes, all of Pawtucket; seven brothers, Joao and Francisco Monteiro, both in Portugal, Cezar Monteiro of North Providence, Julio Monteiro of Pawtucket, and Salvador, Manuel and Jaize Monteiro, all in Cape Verde; seven sisters, Vanda Monteiro in the Netherlands, Alicia Monteiro DaCruz and Domingas Monteiro, both in Cape Verde, and Maria Monteiro DePina, Eugenia Monteiro DePina, Edite Monteiro and Deolinda Cardoso, all of Pawtucket; and 11 grandchildren. The funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from Merrick R. Williams Funeral Home, 530 Smithfield Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, High Street.
