LUCIA A. (VIEIRA) DUARTE
DUARTE, LUCIA A. (VIEIRA), 85, of Yates Street, Lincoln died peacefully at her home on Friday, October 30, 2009. She was the beloved wife of 50 years of the late Everett R. Duarte and the daughter of the late Alfred Vieira and Antonia (Ramos) Vieira of the Cape Verde Islands. She was the sister of the late Mary, Joseph, Nicholas, John, and Michael Vieira. She lived most of her adult life in Lincoln.

Born and raised in N. Providence, she attended Stephen Olney School, graduated from N. Providence High School and took several classes at Rhode Island School of Design. She was voted Miss Cape Verdean of Rhode Island at nineteen.

Lucia Duarte demonstrated her creative and artistic talents throughout her life as an artist at Trifari's Jewelry, a painter, pianist, singer, seamstress, and interior designer. Lucia's life passion, however was nurturing her husband and family.

She is survived by a son, Bradford J. Duarte of Hopkinton, MA; three daughters, Cynthia Duarte-Evans, MD of Pittsburgh, PA, Leslie D. Grant and Cheryl G. Duarte of Lincoln; one sister, Anna (Vieira) Cabral Spencer of N. Providence; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Duarte; a son-in-law, Steven Evans, MD; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, November 4th at 9:00AM from the BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln, RI with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Jude's Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln, RI at 10AM.
