CIDALIA F. BAPTISTA, 79, of Hope Street, a homemaker, died yesterday at Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of the late Manuel Baptista. Mrs. Baptista was born in Brava, Cape Verde Island, the daughter of the late Manuel and Justa (Barrow) Faria. She came to this country 30 years ago, settling in Pawtucket, where she remained. She attended the Fourth Baptist Church on Hope Street in Providence. She leaves two daughters, Fatima Lima and Isabel Hodson, both of Pawtucket; two sons, John Baptista in Holland and Gabriel Baptista of Pawtucket; four stepdaughters, Idaline Leitao, Francelina Dolivramento, and Ivone Baptista, all of Pawtucket, and Alcina Freitas of Cape Verde; a stepson, Alvaro Baptista of Cumberland; eight grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. She was the mother of the late Jose Baptista and sister of the late Maria Justa, Arminda Goncalves, and John Barros. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. from the Merrick R. Williams Funeral Home, 530 Smithfield Ave., with a service in the Fourth Baptist Church, 734 Hope St., Providence, at 10. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
