Born September 10, 1930 in Bryte, California. Passed away October 7, 2008 in Sacramento, California surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband for 54 years to Alice. Cherished father of Phillip (Esther), Arthur (Roseanna) and Alysia. Special grandfather of Rita, Edward, James, Brandon, Vinson and Brian. Adored great-grandfather of 5. Brother of Richard and Robert Gonsalves. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Bonnie Gonsalves. Sonny retired after 38 years at McClellan Air Force Base as an Electrical Crew Chief. He was an accomplished saxophone player and an active member of the Portuguese (Cape Verde) community. He was an avid fisherman, especially at Dick's Pond and enjoyed making airplane models, but his passion was his music. He will be sadly missed. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, October 13, 2008, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at NORTH SACRAMENTO FUNERAL HOME, 725 El Camino Avenue, Sacramento, Calif., and a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 1717 El Monte Avenue, Sacramento, Calif.
