He was the widower of Rose (Gibeau) Gonsalves and son of the late Joseph Gonsalves and Minnie (Fernandes) Perry. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, Mr. Gonsalves was a member of the International Church of the Nazarene. He was formerly employed as a construction worker for many years and was a member of the Hod Carriers Union. Mr. Gonsalves enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Bobby Gonsalves of Chatham and David Gonsalves of New Bedford; four daughters, Karen Gonsalves, Pamela Soares, Robbin Gonsalves and Nadine Gonsalves, all of New Bedford; three stepdaughters, Diane Addison of Newport, R.I., and Lola Paulette and Toni Leighton, both of New Bedford; three sisters, Beatrice Fernandes of Fairhaven, Matilda Burgo of New Bedford, and Jessica Leite of New Hampshire; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gonsalves was also the brother of the late Mary Ann Gonsalves. His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the International Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. |
