"Daddy G"
Storyteller, mechanic, beloved husband and father died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004. Fondly known as "Daddy" to his friends and family, he leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Mary; seventeen children and over 150 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The only son of immigrant parents from the Cape Verde Islands, he was born in Rochester, New York on Feb. 8, 1916. At the age of 6 his parents purchased a small farm in the Sacramento-Gardenland area and relocated to California. In 1939 he married Mary Laguna and started a family. An avid reader and mechanical wizard, Daddy loved tinkering with cars and gadgets, and telling good stories. He worked at McClellan Air Force Base and Al's Feed Store in his early years. Viewing and Rosary will be held at 7pm, Oct 6th at North Sacramento Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be held at St. Joseph's Church, Oct 7th at 2pm. Reception to follow.
