Ana L. Gomes

NEW BEDFORD -- Ana L. (Lobo) Gomes, 89, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 5, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital.

She was the wife of Francisco Gomes and daughter of the late Sebastian and Eugenia (Tavares) Lobo.

She was born in Brava, Cape Verde, and lived in New Bedford for the past 33 years.

Mrs. Gomes was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

She and her husband were married 64 years.

Survivors include her widower; two sons, Julio Gomes and Jose Gomes, both of Dartmouth; two daughters, Eugenia Pfeiffer of New Bedford and Maria Gomes of Dartmouth; a brother, Joao Lobo of New Bedford, 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Maria Gomes and Antonio Lobo, who was her twin.

Her funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

Arrangements are by Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
